Early music icon- Jordi Savall visits Austin

This evening, conductor and performer of early music (viols), Jordi Savall visited Austin for a performance in Bates Concert Hall (Univ. of Texas).  The concert was entitled “The Route of the New World – SPAIN MEXICO – The musical dialogue from the Old Spain, the Mexican Baroque and the living ‘Husteca’ and ‘Jarocho’ Traditions”

Tomorrow morning maestro Savall will be on campus again for a round table discussion hosted by Prof. Guido Olivieri and other faculty members from the musicology department.  The topic will be “Listening, Enculturation, and Performance Practice in Early Music”
